Favorite Reads

These are a few of my favorite books that have given me Biblical hope during various seasons of life (ie. health problems, miscarriage, infertility, and waiting).

A Graceful Waiting: When there's nothing more that you can do, God's deepest work has just begun by Jan Frank.  I have yet to finish this book, but it has incredible things to say about waiting.

Hoping for Something Better: Refusing to Settle for Life as Usual by Nancy Guthrie.  This Bible study book focuses on Hebrews.

Satisfy My Thirsty Soul: For I Am Desperate for your Presence by Linda Dillow.  This was an amazing book on worship and our whole life as worship.

The Peacemaker by Ken Sande.  We read through this book as a congregation and it presents the Biblical view on dealing with conflict, how we deal with conflict, and how to make peace in relating with people.

The Psalms of Ascent by Beth Moore.  This in-depth Bible study focuses on Psalms 120-134- the psalms that the Jews would sing on their way up to Jerusalem.

Traveling Light: Releasing the Burdens You Were Never Intended to Bear by Max Lucado.  I love Max's books and this is my favorite one focusing on Psalm 23.  It focuses on the various baggage we carry- guilt, want, fear, etc.

When Love and Sorrow Embrace: The Sufficiency of God's Grace Through the Heartache of Miscarriage by Beth Forbus.  This was the best book I read after our first miscarriage.  It offered hope from the Bible.

Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers.  An amazing novel based off of the book of Hosea, which describes God's never ending love for us.
