8 things I can't believe are happening:
1. Baby R. is already 2 months old! I can't believe how quickly the time goes. She is getting so big.
2. July already?!? Like seriously, I can't believe it's July. Days fly by with a little one in the house. July is one of my favorite months because it's our anniversary and my birthday towards the end of the month. Though I'm not looking forward to turning another year older. Ugh.
3. Spotting. Like, um...really?? Is this normal? It started 59 days after delivery- the exact day my Napro Dr. started his sabbatical. It hasn't been every day since then, but just some days. I was expecting many months free of AF, so what's up with this spotting? I knew it was time to start charting again last month, but I put it off because I really wanted a break. I charted through pregnancy, so I've only been chart free for 8 weeks. Part of me wants to say the heck with charting and observations and just see what happens, but then the other part of me says it will be good to chart to see what's going on (I'm assuming all my hormone wackiness will be coming back).
4. Cradle cap AND baby acne...yuck! I'm going to check with her pediatrician on Friday when we go for her 2 month appointment, but I suspect it's all normal for a babe her size. Still, I hate to see her cute little complexion plagued by both of those. She probably got it from my whacked out hormones, huh? Go figure.
5. Green poop, on the other hand....I'm not sure is normal?!? I always thought breastfed babies were supposed to have mustard yellow, seedy/curd like stools....so what's up with the green poo? It's not frothy like a foremilk imbalance could cause, so I'm wondering if she's had a little stomach bug the past week. If so, there will be zero vaccines on Friday. As it is, I'm thinking of only doing half the vaccines this month and the other half next month per Dr. Sears alternate vaccine schedule.
6. AAFCP and meeting Dr. Hilgers. I'm thinking of heading to the American Academy of FertilityCare Practitioners annual meeting next week and attending a few sessions. I would love to see/hear Dr. Hilgers speak since I've never met him and feel so indebted to him for helping us have our little R through Napro. I'm also thinking this means several FCP bloggers will be there. I wonder how many I could recognize??
7. Losing weight...or not. I thought breastfeeding was supposed to help you lose pregnancy weight? Apparently, it's not working for me. The scale hasn't budged in weeks and I still have 20-23 lbs to lose. Nothing fits and I feel so frumpy. All my pre-pregnancy pants are too tight and maternity pants look saggy. I'm eating healthy and started back at the gym 3x a week last week. Maybe it's time to re-start Metformin??
8. It took some adjustment for both R and I to having DH back at home. This was a little surprising to me and not anticipated nor planned for. We had a few rough nights as a family of 3, but thankfully, I think we're getting back on track as our little family.
Happy 4th! We're just laying low since our crazy town had their fireworks display for the 4th on the 3rd...crazy! Our pyro neighbors will probably be shooting off their own aerial displays over our house all week. Lovely, huh? It might make me crazy if they wake up Baby R one more time with those big ones that shake the house and especially her room, which is at the front of the house.

Wow! Can't believe R is 2 months already! I'm laying low tonight, too. I would really hate fireworks right now, I think. Not that we have any in town, anyway! :)
ReplyDeleteLove this list...and yes, 2 months is so big, isn't it? I miss my newborn already!
ReplyDeleteMore pics when you get a chance!
I got my cycle back after 6 weeks. Not fun. Everyone else went a year or more. I am not sure if your spotting is that. A book I read about losing the baby weight says it basically takes 1 year to lose it all. This held true for me. But then I had the baby weight plus a few extra pounds to lose. My son had bad cradle cap too. I assumed it was toxins, hormones etc. He still has a little and he is five...maybe it is because he never lets me wash his hair. I have heard that from many women when their husbands come home there is a huge adjustment period. Good to hear your update.
ReplyDeleteGreen poop can be normal. :) http://www.justmommies.com/articles/baby-poop.shtml
ReplyDeleteHey you- 2 months!! geez..I know after that 8 week mark, I was feeling more confident in my mommy duties!! M had/still has at times cradle cap- it started a 8 weeks and peaked at 4 months, just in time for his 4 month check up- I tried everything over the counter and finally asked for a prescription and MD gave me a script for some lotion to be applied weekly- and it is pretty much gone, but, yes- definitely has to do with hormones. I hear ya on the weight thing, when I was bfing/pumping I did notice losing more weight, but when I stopped at 3 months, I gained some back :( Everytime I get bummed about my body- I look at my beautiful son and it puts things in perspective for me- but I aint say it doesnt stink being a fatty!!!
ReplyDeleteI hear you on #7! I've lost some but I'm plateauing too. And #5, Claire had green poop for a few days too. I don't know what it was! Maybe something I ate? She was extra fussy those few days too, and now her poop is back to normal and she's been in a great mood yesterday and today. Who knows. #6--I know that Nicole from survivingendometriosis dot blogspot dot come will be there.
ReplyDeletePS, I think amarthatryingtobemary dot blogspot dot com will be there too.
ReplyDeleteAs annoying as charting can be, it sure is helpful when we need to know details. I'd def start it up. I need to myself!
ReplyDeleteJuly....where did April go???
Wish I lived close enough to go to meeting!!! Imagine how much we would learn!!!
I've got a July b-day too! :) Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteC has cradle cap too... my doctor suggested olive oil - I haven't had a chance to try it yet, but I will over the weekend. We'll see if it helps!
Luke has cradle cap too! I felt like a failure b/c I thought it was a "dirty" disease. LOL I know it's not, but I thought ... I can brush his hair enough to prevent it. Ummm ... no. I'm glad I'm not alone. My doc said it was overstimulation of his oil glands on his head. So ... we're just dealing with it.
ReplyDeleteIt is weird to have your DH back after you're settled in a routine and 'used to' him gone. My DH used to travel for weeks at a time after we were married ... for about a year ... and it was weird to have him back home ... get used to him ... and then he'd be gone again. I can't imagine with a baby. :-(
I am there with you on the losing weight while breast feeding. I gained 48lbs total and lost 33 within the 1st month and the last 15 have stuck on no matter if I eat a lot, eat a little, etc. It fluctuates one to two lbs, but nothing more than that. Oh and cradle cap (or "cradle crap" as I called it) - I found that a little oil (I used what I had on hand - Burt's Bees baby oil) rubbed into her hair and then I used a soft comb to loosen it and comb it out. I usually had great luck with that. I can't believe R is already 2 months!! Hey, since you handled 13 days by yourself just fine, I think you are up for a trip to the Twin Cities - right?? I would love to see you and R! :)
ReplyDeleteMy sister loses her last few lbs after weaning with every child, so I am just going to assume that is what will happen with me! It does seem like bfing helps lose weight only to a point (the things no one tells us ladies about post-partum!). Regarding spotting... darn that your NaPro doc is out because that's where I'd go first to see what might be causing it! Your full cycle may not come back for awhile still, but you may need your FCP to help you navigate that pattern. I am already afraid of what's going to happen with my charts haha... I feel like (except the first tri) pregnancy has been a nice break from the craziness of cycling!
