Friday is not quite over yet, so I'm not too late with my Quick Takes for today.
1. I've gone through withdrawal this week with headaches every day. Is that the result of me cutting out dairy, gluten, and sugar this week?
2. I just completed my 2nd week of teaching intensive summer courses, and I'm beat. I'd forgotten how intense they are and how tired I get from them. We teach 16 weeks of material in 5 weeks. The good news is I'm almost half done! Memorial Weekend came at the perfect time. I need an extra day at home to catch up.
3. I haven't met my daily goal of walking 10,000 steps like I usually do since I started summer courses. I just don't have time to walk more. I'm still going to Curves to exercise and I am getting 6,000-8,000 steps in, so I'm not sitting around all day.
4. We joined a chicken CSA this year and picked up our first month of chickens from the local farmer last week. We get 2 chickens a month for 6 months and they are free range chickens. We already cooked one and it was so juicy- almost too juicy for us. We almost ordered the eggs to go with the chicken share, but I'm glad we didn't since eggs are out of my diet for the time being:-(
5. 45 days until we leave for Russia! Yikes. So much to do and little time to prepare until after I'm done teaching. We're still waiting on our visas, but I am getting excited.
6. I hit 29,000 miles on my car odometer today. We bought the car new at the end of 2006. That tells you how much I drive each year- less than 7,000 miles. I have a 4 mile commute from home to work each day and my speed tops out at 30 mph. It does take me 10-15 minutes to get to work, but I know I'm spoiled with that type of commute. My husband also has 29,000 miles on his car, but we bought it in January 2009, so you see which car we drive more often!
7. I never tire of this sight. Growing up in the Midwest, I never knew what I was missing (the mountains) until I moved out here. I've been here for 7+ years now, and I still love to look at the mountains every day.
